Skill Development Training Programme for Youth on Primary Data Collection and Field Survey

Objective-

In recent years demand for data has increased manifold. For Government machinery it is not possible to fulfill all demands of data due to limited number of statistical personnel in DES and statistical cell of line departments. Also there is dearth of trained statistical persons in private sector. As a result whenever a survey is planned to be conducted with the help of personnel outsourced from private sector, quality of data is compromised. This is due to the fact that the persons deployed for collection of data are not exposed to statistical tools and have no experience in carrying out survey work.To overcome this handicap, it is proposed to train unemployed youth in survey work and report writing. These persons will act as pool of statistically trained persons who can be utilised for statistical work by different governmental and non-governmental organization on payment basis.

Scheme-

Under central sector scheme 'Support for Statistical Strengthening' SSS DES has set up training modules of 4 days training Programe on 'Skill Development for Youth on Primary Data Collection and Field Survey' in collaboration with Giri Institute of Development Studies, Aliganj, Lucknow.
